JOB SUMMARY



The Business and Technical Support Services Branch is responsible for providing strategic, business, technical and other operational support services through a centralized branch that consolidates and streamlines the delivery of specialized business supports and services to an assigned department.


On behalf of one or more of the department's Service areas, you develop, implement and evaluate stakeholder engagement, communications and event plans of moderate to high complexity/sensitivity/risk. You also provide specialized advice in these areas, and support strategic communications, media relations and issues management for the department and Service area(s).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



4-year degree in Communications, Public Relations or other related field.


5 years of experience planning, developing and evaluating stakeholder engagement, communications and event plans, and leading their implementation.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES


Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated

KNOWLEDGE


Communications and stakeholder engagement concepts, principles, methods and tactics Tools and technologies relevant to virtual and in-person communications, stakeholder engagements and events (e.g. social media, Zoom, MS Teams, Engage Ottawa, etc.) Event planning and management Industry trends and developments Project management General knowledge of the Corporation, departmental and service area business requirements, policies and organizational structure Legislation, policies, regulations, guidelines, procedures, issues and trends relevant to the department Microsoft Office suite Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

Able to work independently, with minimum support/direction, and cooperatively and collaboratively with all staff as part of a team Able to plan, lead and complete assigned projects and initiatives within set timelines Organizational skills Able to balance multiple demands and conflicting priorities Research and analytical skills Strong computer skills and the ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of applications and virtual engagement platforms Strong communications skills (verbal and written)
Solid interpersonal skills

Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
