As an Outdoor Instructor, you'll dive into thrilling outdoor experiences that ignite a love for learning and foster deeper connections. Our offered programming will give you the opportunity to lead guided hikes, ecological lessons, team building activities, and even conquer exhilarating low and high ropes courses. Rain or shine, you'll engage with students and guests of all ages and abilities, bringing the magic of nature to life. As one of the largest YMCA camp providers, the YCMA of Three Rivers plays a leading role in providing quality camp experiences for our guests. The Outdoor Centre at Camp Ki-Wa-Y hosts thousands of guests from diverse backgrounds throughout the season. What you will do...
Deliver safe and engaging recreational and educational programs to all users of the site
Prepare, develop, and maintain program spaces and resources for use by staff and participants
Offer friendly and professional customer service to all participants
Support in the kitchen to prepare and serve meals and clean as needed
Adhere to and be aware of safety guidelines and policies
Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required
Stay on site overnight as needed (staff overnight accommodations are available on site)
Be prepared to work on weekends as needed
Assume other duties as assigned
What you will bring...
Previous experience working with children and adults, either in classrooms, after school programs, outdoor schools, or a camp setting
A commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment and the ability to respond with sensitivity to diverse needs of participants
Effective leadership, teaching, facilitation, and communication skills
Strong professional conduct
Up to date Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or willingness to complete training
A successful competition of a Vulnerable Police Records Check within the last 6 months
National Lifeguard certification is an asset
