Job Title: Out of School Care (OOSC) Manager (Maternity Leave, 12-18 months)
Hours: 35 hours/week, between 7:30am-5:30pm with some flexibility
Position Type: This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible
Salary Range: $41,500 - $44,000 (before top-up)

Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association is a vibrant, inclusive community centre offering community-based programming, childcare, sports and recreation facilities, and private hall rentals.
Position Description:
The OOSC Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of HSCA's Out of School Care program (OOSC). This includes maintaining the general well-being of the program and staff and overseeing appropriate supervision and safety practices. The Program Manager is the pedagogical leader for the program. They will mentor the team and foster the holistic well-being of each child while nurturing their sense of belonging and identity within safe, healthy and responsive environments.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Development
In collaboration with the Team Lead, support emerging best practices to ensure the OOSC program is providing a vibrant and engaging experience for all children
Provide guidance, observation, and create opportunities for self-reflection and goal setting with educators through documentation
Create and foster opportunities for engagement across HSCA programs
Staff Leadership and Coaching
Ensure all human resource and regulatory requirements are accurate and current for all OOSC employees (first aid, police clearance, etc.)
Provide leadership and coaching to all OOSC educators
Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management in collaboration with the Team Lead
Lead team meetings
Display exemplary work ethic, a kind demeanor, and a positive attitude
Foster an environment of teamwork, unity and collaboration across the organization
Programming and Administration
Collaborate with Daycare Manager in maintaining staff schedule
Approvals for employee scheduling including vacation, lieu, and sick time
Ensure program policies are accurate, current, and meet all the regulatory requirements
Registration and orientation of new children and parents
In collaboration with the Team Lead, maintain a schedule of activities supporting emerging best practices
Maintain accurate and current child records in accordance with HSCA policies and all regulatory requirements
Oversee Health and Safety Standards
Provide on floor supervision of children as required
Meet and maintain Licensing Standards and Regulations
Submit Government affordability/top up claims for educators and children monthly (as needed)
Policy reviews with educators
Finances and deposits
Oversight and support of waitlist inquiries as needed
Collaborate with Daycare Manager for a cohesive program operation
Relationships and Engagement
Maintain positive and professional relationships with children, parents, staff, and the broader HSCA
Maintain communication with parent in various ways, including in person, through parent board, phone, and email communications
Work collaboratively with HSCA's other programs and services
Problem Solving and Professional Practice
Collaborate with the Team Lead in handling child/family/parent conflicts or concerns
Address situations of challenging child behaviour
Follow appropriate procedures in the event of accidents and incidents
Provide mediation in the event of inappropriate staff or parent behaviour
Additional duties as needed

Qualifications:
Early Childhood Education diploma or degree with current certification
Experience in supervisory or leadership role
Knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Acts & Regulations
Valid Criminal Record including vulnerable sector screening
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Familiarity with office management and basic accounting procedures
Experience with human resource management
Knowledge of and proficiency with emergent curriculum planning
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a team (childcare team, an asset)
Positive attitude and friendly demeanor along with excellent leadership skills and the ability to follow and enforce programming requirements
Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
Ability to quickly learn new software, procedures, and systems
Proven experience as an Office Administrator, Office Manager, Childcare Manager, or other similar role, as asset
Familiarity with KinderLogix(formerly known as Timesavr) or other similar software, an asset
Experience working in an Out of School Care program, an asset
