Foothills Creative Beginnings (FCB) opened a brand new childcare centre in April 2025. We are located in Northeast Calgary. FCB provides quality inclusive childcare and early learning to over 60 children aged 19 months to kindergarten. Straight Shift - Full Time 40 hours per week



The Job



The primary role of the early learning educator is:

Plan and implement a program that encourages the physical, social, and cognitive development of each child and that follows the policies and philosophy of the centre. Adapt the program to the needs of the individual child with consideration of their interests, talents and unique needs. Create a safe and welcoming environment for all children attending the centre.
Duties include:

In the Classroom



Create a welcoming environment for children by greeting them, helping them remove their outerwear if needed, and selecting activities of interest to them. Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, physical activity, and field trips. Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play. Lead circle time, engaging children in connection, activities and learning. Utilize a visual schedule. Create a language rich environment to support development. Implement FCB program plan and child guidance policies. Observe and evaluate children's performance, behaviour, social development and physical health. Support snack and lunch times. Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene. Treat each child with dignity and respect. Work with the team to plan and implement activities that carry out the centre philosophy and accepted early childhood education practices. Help each child become aware of their role as an integral member of the group. Establish a positive relationship and open communication with parents of the children.

Physical Environment



Maintain a physical environment in the classroom that is inviting and conducive to learning and which lends itself to the teaching of developmentally appropriate activities. Ensure a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning, fun, and inclusive. Ensure a clean and safe learning environment by regularly sanitizing toys, equipment, and surfaces. Conduct daily safety checks of the indoor and outdoor play areas to identify and address potential hazards. Implement and follow emergency procedures, including fire drills and lockdown protocols. Administer first aid when necessary and maintain accurate records of incidents and injuries. Collaborate with parents and guardians to address any safety concerns and provide updates on their child's well-being

Skills and Abilities



Flexibility, patience, sensitivity, tolerance, enthusiasm, creativity and imagination. Ability to select and use training and instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when designing learning . A positive attitude toward the work and people involved. Strong interpersonal communication skills, including written communication. Ability to develop a strong working rapport with others. Displays a practical approach to problem solving. A commitment to the development, progress and inclusion of all children.

Requirements



Level 2 or 3 Early Childhood Educator Childcare experience of 3 or more years is an asset. Experience working with neurodiverse children is an asset. Computer literacy including Microsoft office (word, excel, SharePoint) Proficiency in the English language both written and verbal. A current criminal record check and vulnerable sector check. Current First Aid and CPR
