Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optical Manager (preference given to a Registered Optician with leadership experience) to oversee the daily operations of our optical department in West Ottawa. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in retail management and optical services, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service while maintaining efficient workflow within the team. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for the optical industry.

Duties

Manage the daily operations of the optical department, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Supervise and train staff on optical products, sales techniques, and customer service best practices. Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies, tracking stock levels, and conducting regular audits. Provide expert guidance on eyewear selection, fitting, and adjustments to ensure customer satisfaction. Collaborate with laboratory technicians to ensure timely production of eyewear products. Utilize medical terminology to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding patient needs. Maintain knowledge of industry trends and advancements in optical technology to enhance service offerings. Drive sales initiatives to meet departmental goals while fostering a positive shopping experience for customers.

Requirements

Proven experience in retail management or a similar leadership role within the optical field. Strong understanding of medical terminology related to eye care and optical products. Familiarity with laboratory processes and equipment used in eyewear production is preferred. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers and team members. Proficiency in using retail management software; experience with Epic is a plus. A sales-oriented mindset with a track record of achieving sales targets in a retail environment. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.
