Purpose:
Employees in this position are required to operate a large variety of trucks, tractors and equipment in connection with the maintenance and improvement of University grounds, roads, walks, and parking lots as well as support the Grounds team. The Team Leader will have additional responsibilities acting as support for Supervisors, as mentor and role model to staff, and as coordinator for operational needs.
Education:
Must have WHMIS Certificate. Must hold a valid Class D license, with an MTO air brake (Z) endorsement and have a driving record acceptable to the University.
Experience:
Must have a minimum of three years\' experience in the operation of at least three of the following types of equipment: a) Trucks over 11,000 kg. b) Snow ploughs and sanders c) Agricultural tractors with implements d) Skid-steer and articulated loaders f) Backhoes Supervisor and/or Lead Hand experience with good mechanical aptitude.
Skills:
Demonstrated ability to lift and move materials. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated computer skills (Word, Excel, Maximo, and email). Must demonstrate Customer Service and teamwork skills. Must show initiative.Must have a good mechanical aptitude for servicing and assisting with repairs to vehicles and equipment. Able to carry out daily routine with minimum supervision.
