Summary

Job Title: Operations Supervisor

Location: Wolverine Mine

Schedule / Terms of Employment: 12-hour shifts, (7 days on / 7 days off)

Primary Purpose

The Operations Supervisor\'s primary purpose is to supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of all mine operations personnel to optimize utilization of resources and achieve overall mine operations production objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Devise effective crew mine plans that meet or exceed daily production targets levels in a safe and cost effective manner
  • Optimize crew and operator placement to ensure all daily production targets are met
  • Continuously monitor throughout the shift operations and adjust as conditions change
  • Work with and assist the Efficiency Engineers and mine site trainers to achieve targeted objectives, continuously work to expand the cross-training of operators
  • Identify and communicate operator deficiencies to the Superintendent with the goal to improve their role and effectiveness to meet the company\'s goals
  • Implement and monitor daily operator assignments adjusting as necessary to meet the company\'s daily budget targets
  • Monitor and report the daily attendance requirements including all absenteeism and record employee time and payroll information
  • Accurately and timely record crew and production reports
  • Monitor and continuously seek to improve employee morale
  • Daily monitor coal quality pit practices to insure they adhere to company policy as outlined in the company\'s coal quality program
  • Manage the daily, weekly, and monthly coal quality audit records
  • Manage daily coal production to maximize "in-pit" recoveries
  • Manage that each coal pit achieves the desired coal quality while maximizing the direct ship and minimizing high ash (pit cleanings)
  • Lead all investigations with a definite focus on root cause and prevention
Qualifications and Experience
  • Valid BC Shift Boss Certificate
  • A minimum of five (5) years\' experience in an open pit mining environment
Skills and Abilities

Ability to take full responsibility with minimum supervision for safety, production and quality of load and haul operations.

Ability to interpret mine plans and effectively communicate to load and haul work group.

Mine equipment safety standards.

Preparation of work schedules and performance reports.

Understanding of short and long term planning objectives.

Able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
