Forbes Bros Ltd. is looking for qualified Operations Supervisor - Field Operations (full-time) to join our growing FB Bullet team in Surrey BC. Specializing in shallow utility construction in the lower mainland, the Forbes team continues to see significant business growth in the region. The Operations Supervisor - Field Operations will oversee all aspects of a project from start to completion. They will monitor project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures, organizing and participating in stakeholder meetings, and ensuring that project meets or exceeds clients\' expectations. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and able to work alone in addition to working alongside other Operations Supervisors, covering various aspects of progress and delivery. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lives Forbes Bro. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day
  • Oversee projects from start to finish, leading General Foreman and a team of 20-30 employees in a unionized environment
  • Responsible for reviewing incoming work orders from clients and assign to the appropriate General Foreman/team, job planning, scheduling, execution, quality control, document completion, coordinating material, tools, equipment, and personnel
  • Effectively conduct employee reviews at pre-determined intervals for all crew members
  • Share responsibility in reviewing and approving or denying workflow, time off requests, fleet and tool requests, timecards, etc.
  • Coordinate fleet operations management, working in unison with the Fleet Lead to coordinate repairs, inspections and improvements
  • Working with Regional Manager and other Ops Supervisors to manage Employee & Labor Relations inclusive of employee reviews, employee concerns, operating as per the CBA, incident reporting and investigation, disciplinary discussions, recruiting, etc., as applicable
  • Production reporting and a high level of communication with your team and other Operational Leaders is expected through out the duration of each project and beyond
  • Liaising with client groups and their teams to resolve any issues - work with internal team to find solutions to issue, preempt issues, mitigate risk to all projects and create strong relationships with client groups
  • Responsible for hitting field metrics including tailboard participation, conducting VSL\'s with crews and quality control compliance checks periodically
  • Oversee the correct and appropriate usage of materials, tools, labor and mitigate waste
  • Perform other tasks and duties related to this function as assigned

What We Are Looking For:
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervising in a unionized environment, preferably in the construction industry
  • Preference given to those with experience in underground utility construction and/or hydro/telecommunications
  • Relevant experience overseeing day to day operations, supporting, and managing crews working in the filed while spending 90% of your time in an office environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high pressure situations and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills from internal clients and external customer service/client relations
  • Existing knowledge of WorkSafeBC standards and policies is an asset for this position
  • Ability to work in field/site with travel and work hour flexibility to accommodate to remote/site work schedules
  • Employment is contingent a valid Class 5 Driver\'s License and an acceptable drivers abstract
