Position Summary



We are seeking a hands-on and experienced

Ocean Import & Export Supervisor

to lead our ocean freight operations while actively managing end-to-end shipments. This role combines supervisory responsibilities with direct operational coordination, ensuring smooth execution of import and export shipments from booking through delivery. The Supervisor will also update current, develop and implement team Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), monitor and improve performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and act as a mentor and escalation point for the team.

Essential Functions:



End-to-End Shipment Management

Coordinate and manage full-cycle ocean import and export shipments, including booking, documentation, customs, container arrangements, and final delivery. Prepare and review Bills of Lading, manifests, and customs documents to ensure accuracy and compliance. Track shipments, communicate updates to clients, and resolve operational issues proactively. Ensure timely and accurate billing (Ocean within 2 days).

Supervisory Leadership

Oversee and guide a team of coordinators, ensuring workloads are balanced and deadlines are met. Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and performance feedback. Act as the escalation point for client issues, shipment delays, or disputes. Ensure the team delivers high levels of accuracy, efficiency, and client satisfaction. Supervisor level review or audit step before files are officially closed, to catch errors or missing documents KPI and SOP Development Design, implement, and monitor KPIs to track team performance, service levels, and operational efficiency. Develop and maintain SOPs for all import and export processes to ensure standardization and compliance. Conduct regular reviews of performance metrics and adjust processes for continuous improvement. Client & Agent Relations Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients and overseas agents on ocean import/export matters. Respond to client inquiries in a timely, professional manner and resolve escalated concerns. Prepare and follow up on freight quotes and rate requests. Identify opportunities to upsell value-added services (e.g., insurance).

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work with internal departments to align ocean operations with company goals. Contribute to strategic projects that enhance efficiency, profitability, and client service. Support a positive team culture focused on accountability, professionalism, and growth. Occasional travel for client visits or industry conferences. Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education Requirement:



Successful completion of the

CIFFA Education Program

required.

Required Skills and Knowledge:



Minimum

5 years of experience

in ocean freight forwarding, with at least

3 years in a supervisory or senior coordinator role

. Proven track record in handling

end-to-end ocean import/export shipments

. Strong knowledge of shipping regulations, customs procedures, and international documentation. Experience developing SOPs and managing KPIs. Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong client service orientation and communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Proficiency with logistics software such as CargoWise and Microsoft Office Suite.

$75,000 - $80,000 per year
