Gama Aviation has a fantastic opportunity for an Import / Export Supervisor to join our talented Supply Chain team based in our modern base facility in Bournemouth. Working under the Head of MRO Logistics and Warehousing and closely with the Head of Procurement and the procurement / Warehousing teams, this role will own and be responsible for the movement of all import and export documentation for all airframe parts imported into the UK in support of the Engineering Maintenance Repair Organisation (MRO), in accordance with HMRC customs regulations.
The Import/Export Supervisor will manage the daily international shipping operations to ensure smooth, compliant movement of goods by overseeing documentation (customs, invoices), coordinating with freight forwarders/brokers, tracking shipments, optimizing routes, managing costs (duties/taxes), and enforcing trade regulations, while mentoring staff and communicating with internal/external stakeholders for efficiency and timely delivery.
This role requires a dedicated, customs knowledgeable individual to meet the needs of the Company and HMRC. Professional approach, in order to respond efficiently to the business needs.

Responsibilities:
Ownership for the compliance of all imports and exports in accordance with HMRC Customs Regulations
Ensure accurate and accountable records of all imports / exports are maintained
Ensure the cost-effective movement of parts to meet the needs of the MRO
Manage all imported goods into and out of the UK and ensure the accurate completion of all Customs Declarations, including but not exclusive to:
Clearance documentation and declarations
Articulating accurate and acceptable tariffs for the movement of freight
Articulating accurate, acceptable and effective commodity codes for the clearance of freight
Ensure that all goods imported are imported legally and legitimately
Ensure customs clearances are obtained quickly and deliveries are made in good time
Ensure all clearances are completed efficiently and against the most cost-effective import quota, tariffs, trade agreements and HM Revenue and Customs regulations to meet the needs of the organisation
Conduct daily, weekly and monthly reporting as mandated and requested / required by management and HMRC
Audit the process regularly to ensure compliance is maintained
Support the movement of spares to facilitate maintenance checks at external locations worldwide
Develop sustainable relationships with HMRC and all shipping agents as required
Provide timely updates of all inbound, delayed / in error shipments to the MRO
Ensure forward planning and coordination with engineering to ensure the smooth flow of spares
Take primary ownership of the Approved Supplier Process in accordance with CAA, QA, ISO and internal procedures
Deliver accurate and representative calculations of supplier failures
Ensure the approved supplier database is reviewed, updated and regulated
Ensure suppliers are accurately recorded and uploaded to the company MRP system
Deliver out of hours AOG support as per the on-call roster

Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:
Demonstrable experience and knowledge of imports processing, IP & OP procedure, declaration and documentation
In depth knowledge of HMRC regimes in line with imports / exports processing
Awareness of parts purchasing in line with airworthiness regulations and HMRC customs regulations is highly desirable
Experience within an aviation environment is highly desirable, but not essential
Excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications and ability to pick up new systems as required
Commercially savvy individual who is a skilled negotiator and excellent communicator
Ability to build strong relationships when dealing with all parties, both internally and externally, involved in the import/export process
Exceptional attention to detail, with a pragmatic and solutions based approach
