Global Import/export Specialist

Richmond, BC, CA, Canada

Job Description

Summary

At Cooledge, we design with light - and our supply chain is how we make that vision shine. If you're passionate about optimizing global logistics and love solving complex challenges with precision and care, this could be the role for you.

As our Global Import/Export Specialist, you'll manage the entire import/export process, driving efficiency, compliance, and reliability across every shipment with support from a reporting Shipping/Receiver. You'll work closely with internal teams (operations, sourcing, and finance) and external partners (brokers, suppliers, forwarders and customers) to ensure everything moves seamlessly around the world.

You'll thrive here if you're proactive, detail-oriented, and love keeping things organized, even when priorities shift. Because you'll collaborate across multiple time zones, there may occasionally be early-morning or late-night calls with international partners to ensure the completion of a task or project.

If you enjoy a fast-paced environment, have a wealth of international shipping experience, take pride in problem-solving, and want to make a visible impact on a global scale, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

Serve as the organization's logistics subject matter expert, acting as the primary point of contact for shipping quotes, routing options, import/export inquiries, HS codes, and real-time shipment status updates.

Lead the logistics team in executing day-to-day operations, managing all tasks related to inbound and outbound shipments of raw materials, project orders, and other shipping requests.

Own the end-to-end import/export process, from booking through delivery, ensuring compliance, accuracy, timeliness, and cost efficiency.

Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to determine the most efficient and cost-effective methods of material movement, balancing budget constraints with scheduling priorities.

Develop and track logistics KPIs to measure performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement across logistics operations.

Stay informed on market conditions, freight rate fluctuations, and regulatory changes to guide smarter decision-making and proactively develop risk mitigation strategies.

Lead logistics meetings, provide timely updates, and champion process improvements across the organization.

Coordinate transportation with freight forwarders, carriers, and couriers across all modes -- including air freight, air cargo, ocean freight, rail, and truck -- to ensure reliable and timely movement of goods.

Prepare, review, and verify customs and shipping documentation to meet all international trade and regulatory requirements for both inbound and outbound shipments.

Oversee documentation management by ensuring all shipping records, including proofs of delivery, are accurately created, verified, and logged in the ERP system.

Monitor and track shipments from pickup to delivery, providing proactive status updates and ensuring all deliveries meet required deadlines.

Resolve logistics and customs issues by coordinating with key stakeholders to eliminate barriers and maintain delivery timelines.

Build and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and couriers to ensure dependable, on-time performance.

Analyze and optimize logistics costs to enhance efficiency and profitability.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, scale operations, and strengthen logistics tools and systems.

What You Bring

5+ years of experience in international freight forwarding, logistics, or global trade operations (internships considered).

Experience in a manufacturing environment with multiple facilities and global locations is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field (preferred).

Strong understanding and experience working with North American, Asian, and European logistics, customs, and export control regulations.

Leadership experience with the ability to teach, lead, and influence individuals at all levels.

Familiarity with Incoterms, HTS codes, and trade documentation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems is an asset.

Relevant certifications are a plus (CTCS, CSCP, CLTD, or SCMP).

Why You'll Love Working Here

Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

Opportunities for professional growth and career development.

A collaborative, supportive culture that values innovation and continuous improvement.
