Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world. Sudbury is also home to several administrative sites serving both the Ontario Operations as well as all our North Atlantic Operations.

Port Colborne is home to our Nickel Refinery where raw materials from our Sudbury operations are processed into electrocobalt and precious metals and serves as a distribution centre for finished nickel products.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Operations Process II Superintendent, to join our Surface Plant operations at Clarabelle Mill in Sudbury, Ontario. In this role, you will monitor, identify, and implement opportunities to reduce variation in control processes and systems (Technical, Social, and Commercial). Work collaboratively with other Process Superintendents, Managers and Supervisors within the functional and cross functional areas of the operation, to address supplier and customer system deficiencies and achieve capital, operating and maintenance project goals.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Zero harm to employees, the business, the environment, and the community.
  • Achieve/exceed production quality and quantity targets while maximizing economic resource recovery.
  • Audit and analyze trends in safety, environment, production, cost and quality, as well as the consumption of resources.
  • Develop and implement actions to address common cause variances or to take advantage of opportunities as they arise (with a focus on continuous improvement), while balancing the allocation of resources, meeting quantity and quality output requirements for the internal and external customers.
  • Verify compliance with established Service Level Agreements (SLA) and required standards.
  • Work with the HSE Committee to develop actions to improve safety, health and environmental performance.
  • Provide input for the development of and to facilitate the execution of the annual and 5-year capital plans.
  • Develop the area\'s annual execution plan and develops area specific goals and objectives to achieve the annual execution plan.
  • Develop weekly and monthly production and/or maintenance plans and update forecasts as required. Call out when plans and/or forecasts will not be achieved.
  • Monitor area production and/or maintenance performance, and asset integrity, to confirm that processes are in place to maintain the plant and equipment, sustain/build capability, and to achieve the targets outlined in the Execution plan.
  • Contributes to Asset Integrity reviews and supports development of action plans to address \xe2\x80\x98at risk\xe2\x80\x99 assets.
  • Analyzes in-control processes and identifies common causes of variation and develops action plans to make the needed changes to correct the common causes.
  • Ensure that team member qualifications are kept current for required work assignments, and schedule training as required.
  • Provide performance feedback to team members and coach and counsel employees on the standards of behavior, and take corrective action as required.
  • Leads stage two meetings of the Grievance Handling process within their area(s) of responsibility, as assigned (Ontario Operations).
  • Contributes to the Succession Planning processes. Advises the Manager on improving the capability of the L1 team to meet future needs through selection and development.
  • Contributes to the implementation of new systems/processes and provides guidance, auditing, mentoring and analysis support to the management team.
About You

Education
  • Post-secondary education in trades, engineering, or related technical area.
Experience
  • 5 years of industrial operational work experience.
Skills
  • Business and process knowledge in Milling and Mineral processing.
  • Must have organization, supervisory, and leadership skills.
  • High initiative and self-directed to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
