As our Operations Manager - Fire and Marine Technical Services, the successful canadidate will be responsible for leading a team of technicians and customer support specialists in the daily delivery of a wide variety of high quality fire and marine safety services and solutions to our industrial, institutional and commercial customers. Some of the additional expectations of this role include:

  • Managing multiple projects/contracts of varying scopes and complexity, including day to day business, to ensure that all activities follow client, company, regulatory and safety requirements
  • Ensuring effective operational execution through regular review of daily work execution including preparation for work, optimization of material utilization, inspection of work progress, equipment, and worksites; and completion of requisite reports and documentation;
  • Stewarding branch financial performance through maximization of market potential as well as management of operating expenses including staffing, inventory, and capital assets;
  • Supporting achievement of sales and service delivery plans, programs, and processes, in consultation with the sales, business development corporate leadership team;
  • Optimizing local service delivery opportunities and existing client relationships, vendor relationships, operational effectiveness, customer experience and overall profitability;
  • Engaging customers in an effective and timely manner to build meaningful customer relationships and proactively respond to identified issues and concerns;
  • Building, managing, and developing a high performing, cohesive team possessing the requisite training, skills, and customer focus to deliver high quality service and grow market opportunities;
  • Monitoring the efficiency and productivity of the team, and motivating team members to achieve and exceed assigned performance objectives. ;
  • Fostering a work environment conducive to open communication, initiative, and team work to maintain high levels of morale and a welcoming growth-oriented mindset; and
  • Championing safety leadership and high quality service in all aspects of the operation.

The successful candidate must be:
  • Operationally driven, reinforcing accountability, execution, and continuous improvement;
  • Able to lead a diverse team to safely execute high-quality work on-time, every time;
  • WIlling to get their hands dirty, when necessary, supporting execution pf marine related work both in the shop and on client sites;
  • Customer oriented, demonstrating attention to delivering top-tier service, timely support and valued solutions;
  • Adaptable to the changing situations and priorities of a diverse and fast-paced operation;
  • Collaborative and communicative in their approach to managing relationships with team members, clients, colleagues, vendors, and all stakeholders;
  • Solutions focused, analyzing information and situations in a timely and decisive manner and taking action;
  • Observant, with a keen attention to detail and a curiosity that drives continuous learning;
  • Professional, highly motivated and a team player; and
  • Able to work overtime and travel overnight to support operational requirements.

The preferred candidate would have a variety of experience, qualifications, and skills including:
  • 5+ years of experience in an operational management role leading a field service delivery team or similar operating environment;
  • Experience in the marine, fire, life safety, mechanical, or other related technical field; and
  • Industry or post-secondary training in field or operations management, marine services, fire protection, or related field would be considered an asset.

NOTE: All combinations of education in a related and experience will be considered.
Given the nature of our operations, they must possess a valid driver\'s license and be able to travel to remote client sites and other operating locations. Overtime may be necessary; therefore, flexibility in hours of work will be required.
