Position Summary:
We are seeking a results-driven
Operations Manager
to lead and optimize daily production activities within our CNC machining facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all operational functions including production scheduling, workflow optimization, staffing, safety, maintenance, and quality control. This role demands a proactive leader with strong problem-solving skills, manufacturing experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily CNC shop operations including machining, assembly, finishing, and procurement
Lead, supervise, and develop a team of machinists, and support staff
Implement and monitor production schedules to meet customer deadlines and quality standards
Ensure efficient workflow, reduce bottlenecks, and drive continuous process improvement
Coordinate with planning, engineering, quality, and logistics departments to ensure smooth production flow
Monitor machine utilization and initiate action plans for capacity or downtime issues
Enforce safety procedures and regulatory compliance across the facility
Track KPIs such as OEE, scrap rates, cycle times, and labor efficiency
Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, 5S, and continuous improvement practices
Manage preventive maintenance schedules and equipment readiness
Support hiring, training, and performance evaluation of production staff
Prepare and manage operational budgets and resource allocation
Qualifications:
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in operations or production management, preferably in CNC machining or precision manufacturing
Post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field (equivalent experience will be considered)
Proven leadership and team management skills in a high-output environment
Strong understanding of CNC machines, cutting tools, G-code, and machining processes
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, ERP/MRP systems, and production planning
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Preferred Assets:
Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems
Familiarity with Controlled Goods regulations
Background in metal fabrication, turning, milling, and multi-axis machining
