Position: Operations LeaderLocation: Drayton, OntarioType: On-siteIndustry: Meat ProcessingOur client is a family-owned and operated meat processing facility based in the Drayton, ON area. They slaughter, process, package and deliver fresh premium-graded beef, veal, lamb, and goat and currently employ around 50 team members.Opportunity \xe2\x80\x93 Operations LeaderWe are looking for a strong people leader, as this person will have 5 direct reports and lead a broader team of 35 employees. The successful candidate will be part of the senior leadership team, and play a critical role in leading our client through an aggressive growth phase.Essential Job Functions:

  • The Leader will be responsible for leading, managing and holding accountable the Operations Team.
  • Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of all aspects of the Facility and processes.
  • Oversees efficiency through generating production schedules for both the kill floor and cutting room and recording actual production.
  • Directs Livestock Buyer with respect to anticipated production volume to meet production schedules and delivery dates.
  • Handles any employee grievances, disputes or problems in the most efficient manner possible, working closely with the Human Resources department as necessary.
  • Oversees cutting room to ensure acceptable yield levels on all products while producing products to specification.
  • Perform daily safety walks and correct any non-compliance issues.
  • Help achieve the company\xe2\x80\x99s goals by participating in weekly 90-minute Leadership Team Meetings and holding reports accountable to achieve goals.
  • Oversee an ambitious training program that is directly linked to the company\xe2\x80\x99s Mission.
  • Works closely with the Quality Assurance Department to ensure all product quality, specifications, and food safety standards are met.
  • Oversee Compliance to help maintain a positive working relationship with government agencies and third-party compliance organizations to help address any issues.
Experience Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with a preferred college degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience working in the meat processing industry or senior production management/planning experience.
Skills/Abilities Required:
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, problem-solving skills, and leadership qualities.
  • Be able to hold yourself accountable, to be able to hold others accountable.
  • Proficient in MS Office and comfortable using systems to help measure and learn.
  • Must be able to work in a cold, damp, and noisy environment with possible slick floors and frequent exposure to knives, hot water, and production machinery.
