Production Manager
The Production Manager will oversee the day to day activities of the operation to meet production deadlines and provide leadership for the team members. The Production Manager drives the process to maximize profitable growth, provides premier customer service, develops a qualified workforce and reduces operating cost and inventories through continuous improvements. This position reports to the Branch Manager. The ideal individual will need to be an effective communicator, build strong relationships, be able to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, be open to change and ready for any challenge. Operating in a flat organization with a significant amount of autonomy, this position will require a strong \xe2\x80\x9ccan do\xe2\x80\x9d attitude.
POSITION FUNCTIONS
  • Manage and supervise production and shipping/receiving to ensure that all processes are executed safely and efficiently within budget and meet customer and company requirements.
  • Ensures effective operation of the production facility to achieve production targets and changing customer requirements.
  • Inventory management including effective and efficient inventory turn and cycle counts as required.
  • Verifies and ensures compliance with Worksafe BC regulations and bylaws, company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures implementation and evolution of safety procedures and policies.
  • Ensures completion of safety and hazard assessments, quality checks, and daily/weekly preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Ensures adequate staffing is available for optimal production.
  • Ensures the effective use of overtime.
  • Coaching and mentoring direct reports.
  • Monitors and improves layout and work flow to optimize company assets, productivity and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Attend and conduct regular meetings as required.
  • Identify and pursue the correction of production, safety and quality problems.
  • Scheduling maintenance and other external resources.
  • Conducts reviews and develops initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Involved in all aspects of building and equipment maintenance, upgrades and replacement.
  • Ongoing and annual evaluations/reviews to provide constructive feedback and identifying improvement/training needs for production employees.
  • Responsible for hiring, releasing, promoting and disciplinary action for all production employees.
  • Assists/recommends management in setting fair and equitable wages and benefits.
  • Reviewing time cards, approving overtime and documentation of all late starts and absences for proper attendance records.
  • Ensures proper orientation and training of production staff.
  • Complete all necessary reports and records related to production and safety as required.
  • Keep current with ongoing changes and new technology and adapt accordingly.
  • Ensures the safety of all employees, outside contractors and visitors.
  • Monitor production cost KPI\xe2\x80\x99s. ex. Man-hours per Ton and Waste %.
  • Frequent feedback to Management regarding important Production, Safety and Maintenance issues
  • Other duties as assigned or necessary
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 5 years of management experience in production/manufacturing.
  • Appropriate credentials and certifications
  • Rebar fabricating experience would be an asset
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Implement Safety, QA, Lean programs.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, and legislation
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Computer literate
