Were looking for an Operations Accountant Shared Services to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia. Candidates able to work out of our Heffley Creek, BC office will also be considered. Our head office houses Tolkos corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement, and Human Resources.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Degree in business with an appropriate accounting specialty.
  • Certified Professional Accounting Designation or an equivalent combination of education and business experience.
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • General knowledge of the forest industry is an asset.
  • The ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  • Proficiency in forward planning and project management.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

In this role you will:
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, the year-end file, the annual budget, Weekly P&L Reporting, and monthly/annual surveys.
  • Ensure accurate accumulation and reporting of production and financial information for use by Managers, Department Superintendents, Corporate office, and other authorities as required.
  • Provide production and financial information to department supervisors, Operations Controllers, General Managers, Vernon Office Staff, and auditors.
  • Assist in weekly, monthly, and annual financial reporting including variance reports, account analysis, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Assist in ensuring controls are in place for the division.
  • Assist in the compilation and reporting of month-end inventories.
  • Assist in the preparation of the year-end Audit file, annual budget, and uploads.
  • Complete Statistics Canada, Ministry of Forests, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers reporting.
  • Review travel expense statements and prepare bank deposits.
  • Support and explore innovative ideas that further Tolkos strategic plan.
