The Position

RedBlue Heatpumps and Refrigeration is currently experiencing high growth and looking to add additional accounting support to our existing team. We are currently looking to hire an Operations Accountant in our Langford office to start immediately. This is a new position and will work directly with the Financial Accountant and Controller to provide support for the cost and management accounting functions of the organization. This role will also be integral in helping to put in place processes and systems to support scalability of the business. This onsite role is ideal for an individual pursuing their CPA designation as it will offer the ability to work with and learn from experienced CPAs, provide exposure to all facets of the business, and offer opportunities to enhance existing accounting practices, and implement new policies and procedures. RedBlue will also fully cover tuition for the completion of the CPA program.

The expected salary range for this position is between $55,000-65,000/year depending on experience and includes benefits and education assistance upon successful completion of a probationary period.

Candidate Requirements

At least 3 years of accounting experience.

Cost accounting for construction and/or manufacturing businesses preferred.

Currently enrolled in or successfully completed the CPA program.

A bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting, commerce or business is not required but preferred.

Proficient computer skills, including Sharepoint and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel).

Experience with Quickbooks Enterprise or Online is an asset.

Knowledge of Accounts Payable and Expense Reporting systems is considered an asset.

Ability to manage workflow efficiently and prioritize in a dynamic environment.

Experience with process redesign and implementation.

Ideal Candidates will possess the following:

Experience with multi-divisional accounting environments.

Experience with budgeting process.

Proven ability to identify variance sources when comparing actual financial data to budgeted amounts.

Experience with job profitability reporting.

Experience with product costing/pricing.

Understanding of percentage of completion and completed contract revenue recognition.

Excellent time management.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to relate to professionals in multiple industries.

Desire for continuous learning and the willingness to grow with the company.

Excellent customer service and a strong team player.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly divisional financial statements.

Work with divisional managers to identify variances between actual and budgeted financial results.

Review and update pricing based on cost inputs.

Review and update standard costing models.

Calculate and adjust WIP monthly.

Allocate direct and indirect overhead based on appropriate cost drivers.

Assist in preparation of operational and capital budgets and forecasts.

Investigate and participate in the implementation of accounting-related software solutions.

Working with AP and AR to ensure all data feed divisional reporting accurately.

Serve as backup for financial accountant.
