Job Description

Join our team as Operations Accountant! In this role you'll build strong cross-functional relationships to improve process, ensure accurate reconciliations within materiality, and consistently deliver timely month-end closes.



This role is located at our Home Office in Calgary, Alberta, which follows a hybrid work model.


What Will You Be Doing?




Partnering and coordinating with the Financial Reporting team to resolve accounting issues Preparing monthly major vendors accrual, consolidated invoices allocation, and IT services accrual Managing capital leases and equipment repairs and maintenance agreement Responsible for month end journal entries preparation, reconciliations, and GL coding review and correction Completing variance analysis and provide explanations for P/L impact Looking for opportunities to improve process improvements and efficiencies while supporting and driving operational accounting best practices Preparing process documentation to improve operational agility and simplify cross-training Preparing coding guide and accounting policies/procedures for non-financial staff Providing accounting support to various department Providing and support audit process

As the Successful Candidate You Have:




3 plus years of experience in an accounting environment involving preparation of journal entries, variance analysis, and financial reporting Undergraduate degree in Commerce or Business with a preferred major in accounting Experience in an ERP system (e.g., NetSuite) is an asset A keen and diligent eye for data integrity and output accuracy Exceptional communication, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Knowledge in Access database and Power BI/Query is a definite asset Ability to communicate accounting processes to non-financial employees Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, applying good judgment and decision making. Flexibility to work overtime during peak periods including month end; quarter end; year end audit A professional accounting designation is considered an asset
