The accountant will take a leading role relating to the Financial reporting cycles, as well as providing cross functional support for the fixed assets, budgeting/forecasting and project accounting process.The accountant will lead the process relating to the preparation of financial records and financial statements for ASHCOR\'s North American businesses in accordance with accounting policies and procedures. The position requires attention to detail, a high requirement and focus on review and validation, and development of a strong understanding of ASHCOR\'s business and assets.What Else You Get To Do:

  • Responsible for insightful, relevant, accurate and timely financial reports that are delivered to management including monthly and annual compilation of financial data, preparation of complex financial reports, statements, and analysis.
  • Assures accuracy of financial results and forecasts by analyzing or overseeing the analysis of variances against plan & forecast, with a particular focus on earnings, cash, capital expenditures and operating & maintenance costs.
  • Draft commentary and other documents in support of public disclosure of ASHCOR\'s business performance
  • Understands, and assures accuracy of monthly revenues for assigned group of assets.
  • Complete and/or reviews balance sheet reconciliations to meet external audit and internal control requirements.
  • Participates in external and internal control testing and to meet key control requirements.
  • ASHCOR\'s key point of contact regarding internal, external and GST testing and audits.
  • Completion of monthly entries, adjustments in FCCS and associated FR reviews.
  • Responsible for the completion, review of actual results to budget/prior year/or forecast, prepares variance analysis, and assures reasonability of variances with narratives (audit pack).
  • Completion of monthly journals and key account analysis.
  • Maintenance and enhancement of internal accounting guidance information
  • Review of monthly balances with A/R team.
  • Completion of Allowance for Doubtful Accounts (ECL) analysis and provision.
  • Ensure complete review of all ASCHOR trial balance accounts by operations and corporate teams.
Who You Are:
  • Bachelor of Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Accounting designation with Minimum 5-7 years full cycle accounting corporate experience
  • Demonstrated experience responding to internal & external customers; and making decisions related to management of day-to-day activities.
  • Effectively prioritize and be able to work under challenging deadlines while still emulating a strong customer service orientation; maintaining attention to detail; and performing at a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong Excel and data management skills.
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written; tailored for multiple levels of the organization.
  • Requirement for periodic extension beyond the normal work hours to achieve critical deadlines.
