Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Licensed Practical Nurse looking to work to their full-scope of practice and whom has a passion for providing patient- and family-centered care at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, located in the community of Fort McMurray. As our LPN ORT, you will be working in a position in our Operating Room, working within an interdisciplinary team, utilizing our values (AHS Cares) and Patient First Strategy in your practice to provide leading care to Albertans. Our Operating Room has the capacity for six (6) theatres, covering general surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, dental, ear, nose and throat, spines, and orthopedic trauma. The OR Technician position is responsible for providing perioperative patient care using the nursing process, in accordance with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards of practice. You will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in both a scrub and a circulating role, participating as an integral part of our team. You will act as a patient advocate and provide a link between the other units in the facility and the Operating Room and/or Post-Anesthesia Recovery Room. Through your education, experience, knowledge of current principles, techniques and procedures, and interpretation of evidence based healthcare practices and processes, you will play a key role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to the patient\'s care, health promotion and health maintenance. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Post- Grad Perioperative Certification or equivalent Operating Room experience required. OR Completion of a CLPNA approved perioperative course. Able to do On Call/call back and weekend shifts as required. The ORT position requires physical demands including the requirement to stand scrubbed for many hours and to wear lead apron protection for an extended period of time. Preferred Qualifications:

Two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years in the Operating Room. Membership with Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC).
