Your Opportunity:The RGH OR supports surgical specialties including General Surgery, Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Orthopedics, Urology and Ophthalmology. As a LPN/ORT in the OR, you will be responsible for providing perioperative patient care using the nursing process, in accordance with governing bodies meeting standards of practice. You will act as a patient advocate while delivering safe, effective and efficient care in both a scrub and a circulating role. You will practice using evidence based measures and outcomes and evaluate your professional education and clinical practice standards to enhance optimal patient outcomes. WILL EDUCATE: AHS will provide specialty perioperative training if you are an LPN and you: Demonstrate the desire and commitment to a comprehensive 17 week training program, followed by a full time orientation is required. This temporary one year position is built upon two phases: Phase 1 - Perioperative didactic and clinical practicum - 17 weeks. Phase 2 - Orientation to solidify practical knowledge and skill - 38 weeks. Phase 2 requires successful completion of all criteria from Phase 1.Description:As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Graduate LPN applications will be accepted. Graduate from an approved School of Nursing. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team. Demonstrated advanced problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment. Demonstrated communication skills promoting respect and team spirit. Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours and to meet the physical demands of the position. Ability to wear lead apron protection for an extended period of time. Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office and on-line documentation required. Ability to work on call as scheduled. Current N95 fit testing required. Preferred Qualifications:Previous perioperative experience preferred.
