Your Opportunity:

The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital (FSCH) is a busy, dynamic suite offering services in general surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology, obstetrics, endoscopy, and the post-anesthetic recovery room. Working with both surgical and endoscopy patients during the perioperative/sedation phase, the OR Technician performs a variety of Nursing duties by administering safe and effective Nursing care according to hospital policies, Nursing care standards, and scope of practice. Will also float to Day Surgery when required and participate in quality monitoring activities. Demonstrates a professional positive attitude, excellent communication, teaching, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates the ability to perform scrubbing and circulating duties in general surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology, and endoscopy. On-call assignment is required with the expectation to respond to site within 30 minutes.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a Perioperative Nursing Educational Program required. Must possess strong assessment skills. Excellent communication and documentation skills required. Preferred Qualifications:

Two years current operating room experience, preferably in a suburban rural hospital and endoscopy experience is preferred. IV initiation and IV medication administration preferred.
