Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated One-on-One Aide Support Staff to provide personalized assistance to students with diverse needs. This role is vital in fostering an inclusive learning environment and supporting students' academic and social development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education, early childhood education, or related fields, with experience working with children with disabilities, including autism and developmental delays. Prior knowledge of classroom management, curriculum development, and communication skills such as American Sign Language is highly valued. Duties
Provide individualized support to students with disabilities, including those with autism and developmental delays, ensuring their safety and engagement in classroom activities
Assist in implementing IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) and adapt lesson plans to meet each student's unique needs
Support students during academic lessons, including literacy, math, and curriculum-based activities such as Montessori or preschool curricula
Facilitate communication using American Sign Language or other augmentative communication methods as needed
Manage behavior and promote positive social interactions through effective behavior management strategies
Assist with classroom organization, lesson planning, and curriculum development tailored to individual student goals
Support children in early childhood settings, including toddler care and preschool environments, fostering growth in childhood development milestones
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support for each student's progress
Maintain documentation of student progress and communicate effectively with team members regarding student needs
Skills
Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, especially those with special needs or disabilities
Knowledge of deaf education, autism spectrum disorders, and developmental disabilities
Strong understanding of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
Ability to develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards
Proficiency in American Sign Language or willingness to learn ASL is a plus
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, families, and team members
Familiarity with IEP processes and experience adapting lessons for diverse learners
Background in early childhood education, literacy education, math instruction, or Montessori methods preferred
Compassionate approach to working with children of all abilities; patience and adaptability are essential
