Job Summary
The Officer Fuel Equalization is responsible for handling all fuel transactions on interline accounts between CN and other railroads across North America. The role works closely with the Motive Power team to reconcile fuel on all locomotive movements, CN and foreign owned in a timely manner. Moreover, the role reviews fuel use, settling disputes, invoicing, and closeouts with partner roads within the confines of mutually established agreements between the transactional parties. In addition, the role identifies and establishes the appropriate framework that analyzes fuel data, automates the process, uses analytics to facilitate optimal fuel-related decisions when interchanging locomotives, supports budgeting and garners collaboration between the stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities
Manage Horsepower Hour Accounts
Review all existing fuel usage contracts and align standard processes to fit them
Establish goals on meeting reconciliation and processing targets
Process, review, and closeout monthly reports
Identify opportunities to improve fuel usage collection and reduce CN's exposure to excessive cost when reviewing transactions with other parties
Liaise with Finance on Horsepower Hour (HPH) balances and provide trend analyses
Share and network with the Network Operations Center (NOC) team any opportunities that would improve locomotive utilization encompassing fuel
Process Improvement and Enhancement
Establish a standardized process on Fuel usage collection, review, evaluation, and reporting, between CN and partner roads including third parties
Collaborate to further enhance the fuel equalization process using online tools and Information and Technology (I&T) support, similar to the HPH website
Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The incumbent must be available to work evenings and weekends when necessary. The role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents. The role requires minimal travel (10%) within the United States.
Requirements
Experience
Transportation, Logistics or Supply Management
Between 2 to 5 years of experience in Transportation, Car Management, Train Reporting, Data and Measures, Logistics, Analytics and Reporting or Supply Chain

Education/Certification/Designation
Bachelor's Degree in Science, Commerce, Engineering or Business Administration
Certification in an analytics-based domain*
