The Healthy Living Annex focuses on health promotion and outreach and offers peer support programs for both the Macdonald and downtown campuses.Part of the Healthy Living Annex, the Shag Shop is a sexual and menstrual health store for McGill students. It provides a wide variety of at-cost items in a judgement free space with a focus on education and harm reduction. Student staff oversee the shop.Position Summary:Under the direction of the Peer Support Manager, the incumbent performs the following functions.These functions are of moderate complexity and the incumbent performs them using established instructions.This is an in-person position.Typical Functions:

  • Schedules and monitors Shag Shop shifts and works alongside the Training Developer to provide support and training for Shag Shop staff.
  • Manages Shag Shop inventory, including counts, reordering stock, shop display, and tracking client requests and new inventory needs.
  • Processes daily reports for the Shop finances and maintains strict protocols for the processing and control of each.
  • Processes monthly reports for inventory management.
  • Organizes and implements initiatives (on downtown and Mac campuses) to support and promote student sexual health & well-being including educational, promotional and social activities.
  • Works alongside the Communications Associate, creates, monitors, and posts social media content on the HLA\xe2\x80\x99s Instagram promoting the Shag Shop and its events.
  • Troubleshoots and supports HPS team on Shag Shop platforms: Shopify and Moneris, etc.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for monitoring Shag Shop email address and responding to inquiries.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other on-campus groups
Qualifying Skills and/or AbilitiesRequired:
  • Current McGill student who will be enrolled in a degree program for the 2024-25 academic year
  • Passion for health and wellness topics and how they relate to student life
  • Exceptional leadership, collaboration & communication skills
  • Comfortable with basic retail financial balancing.
  • Reliable, punctual and professional
  • Thrives when working independently and within a team environment
  • Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
Assets:
  • Previous experience working as a Hub Peer Supporter or in Peer support
  • Knowledge of student health promotion topics: healthier eating, body neutral/positivity, active lifestyles, mental health care, sexual health, consent, harm reduction and safer partying
  • Experience in retail store operations
  • Experience facilitating workshops and running presentations
  • Experience with design (graphic design, space design, exhibit design)
  • Experience with groups, clubs, and event planning and initiatives at McGill
  • Experience in communications and marketing
