Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist / Behaviour Therapist Assistant with experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to join our team. The successful candidate will implement behaviour intervention plans, monitor progress, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support client development.
Key Responsibilities
Implement individualized ABA programs under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).
Modify intervention strategies as needed under BCBA guidance.
Provide 1:1 direct support to clients across home and community settings.
Support clients in developing life skills, communication, and social interactions.
Collect and analyze behavioural data to track progress and adjust interventions.
Collaborate with families, caregivers, and professionals (e.g., Social Workers, Speech-Language Pathologists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists).
Use positive reinforcement and other evidence-based techniques to encourage skill development.
Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to enhance professional growth.
Maintain a caseload of billable hours in addition to other assigned duties.
Ensure a safe and supportive environment while upholding confidentiality and ethical standards.
Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Behavioural Sciences, Psychology, Autism & Behavioural Science, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
Experience: Minimum 1 year working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, high-risk behaviours, dual diagnoses, or mental health challenges.
Knowledge of ABA: Practical experience implementing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles and behaviour intervention techniques.
Certifications:
First Aid & CPR (current and valid).
Safe Management or equivalent crisis intervention training.
Other Requirements:
Clear and current Vulnerable Sector Check.
Valid G-class Ontario driver's license with access to reliable, insured transportation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently in various settings, including homes, schools, and the community.
Proficiency in written and spoken English; fluency in an additional language is a valuable asset.
