Job Description

Children's Centre Thunder Bay works together with families, caregivers and a community of partners to make a real difference in the quality of life of children and youth. We are an accredited, not-for-profit organization providing treatment and support services for children and youth, from birth to 18 years, who are experiencing behavioural, emotional, developmental or social difficulties. The Centre is currently seeking to fill the following position:



One Full-Time Occupational Therapist



Union Position - 35 hours per week



Benefits, Pension & Vacation


Salary: Hourly - $40.34 - $49.09




Responsibilities:





The Occupational Therapist (OT) is primarily responsible for the assessment, treatment and consultations services as part of Children's Centre Thunder Bay multi-disciplinary team for children from birth to adolescence with various abilities. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing their professional expertise specific to sensory processing and self-regulation to promote self-care, productivity and leisure occupations for children and youth. Additionally, the role of the Occupational Therapist will be to model and build capacity for workers, parents, children and community partners.

Qualifications

:



The Occupational Therapist (OT) requires:


A Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized and accredited university and registration with the College of Occupational Therapist of Ontario. Knowledge of children's mental health, family systems, and developmental issues and the impacts of trauma. The ability to apply a trauma informed lens to practice is an asset. An ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and with other professionals within and outside of the Centre. An ability to provide clinical training and participate in research and program evaluation. An ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing are essential for the position. A valid Ontario Driver's License.
