Job Description

AMCL is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individuals to join our Production team as full-time permanent employees. This role involves working 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, rotating through day, afternoon, and night shifts. Successful candidates will split their time equally between our Oats department and Bird Seed Production department, spending two weeks in each area.

Starting wages are $22.90 per hour, with additional shift premiums and opportunities for overtime. Join us to be part of a dynamic team in a stable work environment with growth potential.

With our site running out of Hagersville Ontario we have been able to provide the Canadian wild bird seed market with our own branded products as well as premium custom-blended packaged caged animal and bird seed products.

Primary Responsibilities Include:



Monitor, maintain, and ship product levels for oats, oat hulls, groats, flour, and cut corn; coordinate with the Elevator Operator for product transfers when necessary. Monitor and operate oat groating software and equipment including dehullers, paddy tables, grinders, cutters, and aspirators. Ship bulk loads of oat products and other bulk loads as required. Retrieve and stack bags of finished product according to specifications and stack patterns provided. Set up pallets and packaging materials for specific products, and assist the operator in filling and sealing bags. Fill totes of product necessary for shipping or use in other parts of the plant. Conduct routine equipment cleaning, including oat groating and dust collection systems; change dust bins as required. Conduct testing and sampling of oat groats and finished products as requested, ensuring results meet quality specifications. Complete all required documentation, including shipping and receiving paperwork, equipment checks, sampling reports, production reports, pallet tags, weight checks, and quality records. Monitor and maintain the dust collection system to ensure proper function and cleanliness. Report all food safety and quality problems immediately to authorized personnel with the authority to initiate corrective actions.

Secondary responsibilities include:



Coordinate with Elevator Operator and Management on product levels Assist coworkers in production and maintenance when available Actively participate in areas of continuous improvement and offer solutions to problems as required Ensure that all equipment is operating and any unsafe equipment or conditions are reported to the Workplace Health & Safety Committee or relevant authority Be willing and able to work and be trained in other positions elsewhere in the operation whenever required

Skills



Technical and Mechanical Skills

Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain machinery such as dehullers, grinders, and packaging lines. Understanding of automated control systems and equipment settings. Experience with food safety practices and regulatory procedures such as HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Attention to Detail and Quality Control Monitoring product quality, checking samples, and performing tests as required. Accurate completion of paperwork related to shipping, receiving, production, and quality records.
Physical Skills

Stamina and strength to lift, stack, and move bags, totes, and boxes. Manual dexterity to handle repetitive tasks and small adjustments.
Teamwork and Communication

Effective communication with other operators, supervisors, and production team members. Positive attitude toward teamwork and following established protocols. Computer and Data Entry Skills Basic proficiency with computers for operating equipment, entering production data, and managing quality paperwork.
