Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organised Greenhouse Production Manager to manage the coordination and execution of greenhouse production tasks by planning resources, assigning work each day, and reviewing output. Responsible for ensuring work is completed accurately and on time. Time will be split between the office and the greenhouse. This position works in collaboration with the Head Grower and has the potential for advancement.
Main Responsibilities
Coordinate, assign and supervise the work of the greenhouse production team with the support of greenhouse supervisors and team leads
Responsible for ensuring production tasks are completed accurately and on time. These include but are not limited to: plugging, sticking, potting, spacing, pinching, flower plucking, winding, cleaning plants, sorting plants, discarding, harvesting cuttings, spraying, irrigating, fertigating, and applying BCAs
Plan and schedule all labour activities in the greenhouse based on planned production and crop recipes, utilising greenhouse production software programs
Work with the Production Analyst, Head Grower and HR to ensure there are enough resources to complete the production tasks throughout the year
Spearhead the implementation of a new greenhouse labour management software and utilise it daily to plan and track labour, and keep it up to date to reflect any changes to planned production
Collect and analyse all time study data related to greenhouse production
Manages inventory of growing inputs and outputs
Track all production output and input the data into ERP Business Software (ie. Agriware) daily
Ensure that every batch of plants is accurately marked and tracked
Create new procedures, write and edit SOPs, and enforce adherence to policies and procedures
Train staff on all new and existing procedures and manage staff with a firm but fair approach
Maintain a safe working environment
Supports the Head Grower with administrative duties including maintaining treatment logs and developing new organizational documents
Others as assigned
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in business management, manufacturing, or horticultural/agricultural production required
Certifications/designations in production, manufacturing, or planning an asset
Skills & Experience
5+ years progressive experience in a managerial role with a team of 10+ people
Work experience in the horticulture industry an asset
Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products including Excel
Knowledge of ornamental plants and greenhouse production an asset
Experience with ERP systems and databases such as Microsoft's Business Central is an asset
Fluency in the English language with excellent grammar and writing/editing skills required
Ability to speak Spanish or Vietnamese an asset

Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform physical work for extended periods including standing, bending, climbing, gripping, pulling, pushing, etc.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Must be able to handle working in hot and humid conditions
Other Requirements
Personal transportation required (location is not serviced by public transport)
Compensation
Starting base salary: $85,000 - 100,000 per year to start, dependent on experience.
Performance-based bonus: eligibility as per internal policy
Benefits: Health Spend Account after 6 months of continuous employment
Vacation Entitlement (as per minimum requirements under Ontario Employment Standards Act*)

Job Type: Full-time, permanent, on-site
Schedule: 42.5 hours per week; Mon-Fri, 8am - 5pm with a 30-minute lunch + 2 x 15-minute breaks.
