The position: Reporting to the Greenhouse & Retail Manager, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Nursery/Greenhouse Associate to carry out the care and merchandising of perennials, shrubs, and trees in the nursery, and assist in the care and merchandising of flowers and vegetables in the greenhouse. Responsibilities include:
Merchandising and Inventory Management
o Retail merchandising of flowers and vegetable product is critical, and you must ensure that all products are available for sale and appealing to our customers.
o Cleanliness and organization are paramount.
o Speed and urgency are critical. Several times per day, retail inventory levels must be replenished and monitored.
o Pricing of inventory must be correct. Constant monitoring and updating labels for all pots, and products to ensure accuracy and correctness of all prices. Maintenance
o Daily walk through of greenhouses/nursery to maintain cleanliness.
o Help inspect all water pumps, lines, irrigation equipment, tank operation, fan operation.
o Organization of equipment, tools, and parts is critical. There is one place for everything and everything is in its place.
o Clean your work areas every day.
o If you can fix it, fix it, otherwise you will work with others to fix it. \xc2\xb7 Nursery work
o Merchandising of our perennial, tree and shrub displays.
o Learn every aspect of products, perennials, trees, and shrubs we sell.
o Help to maintain the nursery.
o Lay down the leftover stock at the end of the season.
o Maintaining and planting the planters and front beds. \xc2\xb7 Fertilizer, disease, and insect control programs
o Follow specific fertilizer programs, maintain fertilizer tank levels, and feed plants.
o Follow current disease and insect control programs in place and participate in improving record keeping initiatives. Everyone at T&T is responsible for selling and providing excellent customer service. There will be times when this will take precedence over regular daily tasks. You will be working with a variety of other employees to accomplish the goals of T&T. You will need to follow instructions and at times give instructions. You will need to work with managers, warehouse and retail staff, yard laborers and others to do your job well. You will be required to wear a badge/two-way radio to communicate with other departments. Qualifications \xc2\xb7 Must have valid driver\'s license.
\xc2\xb7 Excellent communication skills
\xc2\xb7 Minimum 1 year of prior experience in landscaping and/or greenhouse work.
\xc2\xb7 Ability to work independently, with minimal direction, and as a team.
\xc2\xb7 Excellent attention to detail
\xc2\xb7 Must be able to lift a minimum of 30lbs.
\xc2\xb7 Available to work extended periods on your feet, often in hot and humid weather conditions.
