AAI Clinic is looking for a casual or part time or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)? or Registered Nurse (RN).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision of direct-care for patients and families.
- Maintenance of up-to-date documentation of care provided.
- Written documentation required to be clean, clear, accurate and complete.
- Patient interactions may include brief history taking, patient education and measuring vials.
- Procedures (e.g. injections, including subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, and possible IV)
- Relevant medication and procedure agents, medical supply preparation and maintenance.
- Patient chart preparation.
- Patient education materials preparation.
- Perform administrative duties, e.g. charting, filing, faxing and copying.
- Tasks are completed timely and accurately.
- Communicate with patients over the phone, by answering questions or offering advice as per physician's guidance and directives.
- Communicate with pharmacy, other clinics or other medical professionals as per physician's guidance and directives.
- To ensure effective communication with patients and other staffs in the clinic.
- Promotion of a clean, healthy, respectful and safe practice environment.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous quality improvement by completing clinic training.
- Maintain patient and business confidentiality at all times as per privacy legislation
- Maintains high standards of professional practice by adhering to the ethics of the College of Nurses and stay abreast of the latest professional advances.
- Participates in administrative meetings and continuous learning opportunities as required
- Perform related duties and tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Active registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or College of Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Graduation from a recognized nursing education program
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered.
- If graduate from LPN program, completion of the LPN medication administration module required.
- Minimum 5 year experience in medical clinic or hospital setting.
- Prefer AHS experience, specialist clinic experience, especially ENT, respirologist, pediatrician clinic experience or operating room (OR) experience.
- Current First Aid required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) required.
- ACLS certification preferred.
- Clear criminal record check.
- Physically able to perform all assigned tasks.
- Demonstration of excellent verbal and written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and decision making skills.
- Demonstrated assessment skills.
- Capacity to function as an integral member of the Inter-professional team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; be able to efficiently organize many details.
- Knowledge of ethical principles and their application in the clinical setting.
- Ability to function well in a fast paced, challenging environment.
- Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation.
- Good computer skills, able to use MS Word, Excel, EMR and NetCare.
