Your Opportunity:This is an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Clinician (NC) role within the Calgary Eating Disorder Program. This is a unique Mental Health and Medicine blended program based out of FMC and will require collaboration with and occasionally coverage for the Outpatient NC. The NC is a leadership role that is responsible for the day-to-day smooth operation of the unit, which includes the admission (pre care) process, weekly facilitation of multidisciplinary rounds, nursing assessment/care plan development and discharge readiness/planning. As an active and involved on the floor leader, the NC plays a key role in supporting the integration of nursing practice knowledge and psychiatric and medical skills by coaching and mentoring staff from a variety of medical and psychiatric backgrounds, ensuring/demonstrating evidence-based practices, ensuring adherence to AHS and unit policies and procedures, initiating changes to the unit processes and participating in quality improvement and education initiatives. In addition to staff support, the NC will coordinate patient activities, and care for the eating disorder (ED) inpatients to facilitate a seamless transition between the inpatient, outpatient and day treatment programs. This will include managing the inpatient waitlist, responding to inpatient consults among the various health care sites and consult within the CEPD team to provide information and support for units with ED patients. The CEDP NC is a pivotal member of our multi-D team, nursing staff and Physicians. The NC will coordinate and provide clinical management for the ED patients and contribute to program development. This will include taking the lead in promoting positive multi-D team relations, coordinating and facilitating various meetings within different facets of the multi-D team and facilitate the orientation/training of nursing staff as required.Description:As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
