MAJOR DUTIES:

Works with the on-site tooling support team and/or the customer at our customers facilities to rapidly solve emergent tooling issues, document changes to processes and procedures in a fast paced, dynamic, team-focused work environment.

Responsible for ensuring proper operation and maintenance of equipment during operation and production.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibilities:

  • Provides site support for tooling and equipment
  • Trouble-shooting tooling and equipment
  • Develops contingency or recovery methods, procedures and instructions
  • Creates regular shift reports, status memos, and daily activity logs
  • Problem solving using structured techniques (ex. Root Cause analysis, 5Ys, Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram
  • Prepares, and / or provides input to specifications, test plans and procedures, acceptance test plans, technical memos, work instructions, and work procedures,
  • Provides input and review of design requirements and drawings
  • Responsible for learning a customer process and becoming the local expert in it, to support the design and eventually the integration of the machine once it is built
  • Participates in the commissioning of prototype and production machines
  • Assists in systems design and development planning, execution and monitoring including Identifying development activities
Additional responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the system or tooling testing. Executes testing, prepares test reports.
  • Participates in the integration of some or all of the tasks for which he/she has design responsibilities
  • Performs hands-on testing of designed apparatus to mitigate high technical risks (proof of principle and technical studies)
  • Evaluates test results for conformance to design input requirements
  • Conducts design verification testing to confirm that design output meets the design input requirements
  • Responsible for performing design validation under defined operating conditions
  • Coordinates project activities with project management or supply chain of process critical third party equipment
  • Reviews machine performance from internal factory acceptance tests conducted on prototype machines
  • Mentoring of junior level employees in all aspects of the Nuclear Tooling Support Specialist role
Assists with continuous systems design improvements on production machines.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Strictly follow Quality requirements as defined within the manual and procedures including CSA N285, N286, N299 and NQA
  • Requires Nuclear Energy Worker status, and work in radioactive environment for nuclear site work
  • This position requires work at Bruce Power facilities in Kincardine and Tiverton.
  • Candidates must be eligible to be security cleared to work at a Nuclear Power Plant.
  • Shift work may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

A Mechanical, Mechatronic or Electrical-mechanical Engineering degree or Technology diploma (or equivalent).

Experience:

1. Strong understanding of hand tools and measurement tools
2. Hands-on experience with machinery and automated tooling
3. Experience in automation safety
4. Strong understanding of sensors and instrumentation
5. Familiar with electrical drawings
6. Thorough understanding of machine design and build
7. Good understanding of structured problem solving is necessary.
8. Good written and oral communication skills with the ability communicate, train and teach others.
9. Ability to lead or work as part of a multi-disciplinary project team are essential in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
10. Experience in field support for automation systems, nuclear tooling and equipment development and testing is an asset.

WORK LOCATION:

1. Primary work location based out of Kincardine / Tiverton surrounding area
2. Travel to site required on Cambridge on occasional basis to support project activities.
