ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: The Network Operations Control Centre Analyst is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining all aspects of Distributel and Primus Telecommunications Canada\xe2\x80\x99s voice and data networks. This position interfaces with telcos to report network troubles and follows up to ensure problem resolution, documents all problems reported by the way of trouble ticket system, communicates network outages to appropriate departments in a timely manner and monitors existing gateway sites and resolves any troubles found as quickly as possible to ensure minimal interruption of service to Primus customers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This individual will perform regular shifts on a rotational schedule, 7x24x365 (including the 12 hours night shift), monitor and resolve Network infrastructure Events in a timely manner.
  • Respond and resolve network problems providing efficient and timely solution for Distributel and Primus Canada\xe2\x80\x99s voice and data networks.
  • Pro-actively identify problems and improper functioning of the network where possible. Develop and implement innovation approaches that present ongoing benefits in areas of improving system/network manageability and reliability.
  • Follow proper escalations process based on severity of the incident/alert.
  • Analyze alert\xe2\x80\x99s severity and perform initial triage and then escalate to other teams if required.
  • Follow-up on trouble reports to ensure problem resolution in within service level agreements.
  • Promptly document all problems reported by way of trouble ticket system and always maintain accurate records. Monitor ticket queue frequently to ensure highest level of service possible.
  • Escalate voice, data, and internet troubles to next escalation level (Team Leader and/or Manager), as required, to ensure restoration of service in a timely manner.
  • Provide information about network outages to appropriate internal departments in a timely manner.
  • When necessary, report any network troubles to appropriate Telcos or other venders, and escalate accordingly.
  • Primary for coordinating network maintenance schedules. Notify all departments likely to be affected by network maintenance.
  • Ensure that Primus Canada\xe2\x80\x99s network is operational, and that maximum customer satisfaction is obtained.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all network related problems in a timely manner to ensure minimal interruption of service to Primus\xe2\x80\x99s customers. If the problem is beyond the realm of expertise escalate the matter as per the defined Primus Escalation documentation. Follow up to obtain proper training and documentation to improve knowledge base going forward.
Special Assignments:
  • Required to work overtime and off-hours as dictated by network outages and troubles. Weekend and rotating shift work is necessary to ensure 24/7 coverage of NOCC Operations. Participate in NOCC on-call pager program.
  • Provide back-up for TAC and Fraud operations (after regular business hours).
  • Provide technical guidance, training, documentation, and mentoring to junior NOCC Team members.
  • Additional duties as required and possible assistance on Special Projects.

  • Nagios, Zabbix, PRTG and Spectrum Monitoring tools
  • Cisco, Juniper, Ericsson network gear / Fortinet and Pulse VPN solution
  • Metaswitch and SBC for voice solution
  • Cloud and docker environment for TV Solution
  • Cloud Storage solution
CREDENTIALS:
  • Minimum Education: Post-Secondary education with Professional accreditation in Networking, Telecommunication and/or equivalent. Cisco Certified Network Associate or higher Certification that is current (not expired). Experience in lieu of Professional accreditation will be evaluated.
  • Preferred Education: 2 years technology diploma in a telecommunications or networking related program is required.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • CCNA and Junos, Associate (JNCIA-Junos) definite asset.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond to customer inquiries via telephone as well as email in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical documents and reports.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals and troubleshooting skills.
