Financial Planning & Analysis is a team of finance professionals dedicated to providing high-quality information, analysis, advice and financial stewardship to help management teams in making decisions, managing resources and meeting operational and strategic goals. Our team is responsible for the annual operating planning process, multi-year financial forecasting model, PowerBI and development of new reporting tools, administrator for Workday Adaptive Planning, Qlikview, and Azure database, compensation planning & analysis, internal and external reporting and analysis of results including the trial balance submission, SRI and statistics. We are responsible for ensuring high data quality, implementing controls and process improvements, supporting benchmarking and analysis, financial and staffing modelling tools, and providing administrative support to clients including onboarding of new managers and administrative assistants. Our team is committed to continuous improvement in data integration, and data quality for analysis and reporting. Here’s What You’ll Get To Do: General
  • Perform accounting, financial and statistical reporting, and analysis
  • Learn and master the skills and knowledge of the applications and tools available to support analysis and requests efficiently
  • Identify, lead and implement opportunities for improvements including processes, controls, efficiencies, accuracy, data quality, etc.
  • Lead / participate in projects, task groups, initiatives and committees as required to provide financial and business expertise
  • Lead and / or assist in completing selected external reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Develop and update documentation for all related processes and support financial literacy across the organization
  • Ad-hoc requests or assignments as required
Operational Planning
  • Provide financial expertise and leadership within the department and across the organization in matters relating to operational planning and budgeting
  • Assist the Manager, Operational Planning & Analysis in all aspects of the annual operating planning and budgeting process, including development of presentations for Senior Management, internal committees and the Board
  • Support the Hospital Operations Finance team in developing budgets and forecasts with the Operational Management
  • Assist the Manager, Operational Planning & Analysis and Manager, Funding & Ministry Reporting in HAPS planning and reporting to MOHLTC
  • Perform high quality, detailed planning and analysis work to support the development of the annual operating budget, key inputs and assumptions, and targets
  • Identify and implement improvements to the annual operating planning and budgeting process
  • Maintain and improve the function of a multi-year projection financial model
  • Prepare presentations for internal committees including Senior Management and the Board
  • Support Post Construction Operating Planning (PCOP) work
  • Assist with onboarding and training of other departmental staff and leaders for planning & budgeting
Data Analytics & Management Reporting
  • Provide financial expertise and leadership within the department and across the organization in matters relating to data analytics and management reporting
  • Perform benchmarking analysis and compile performance indicators to evaluate and enhance current reporting models
  • Identify and implement improvements to the management reporting process within the Hospital Operations Finance Department
  • Perform complex data analysis with large datasets as assigned to help management teams in making decisions, managing resources, and meeting their operational and strategic goals
  • Lead projects with a vision to improve automation and process efficiencies
Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Strong attention to details
  • Self-starter with strong desire to look for opportunities for improvements in processes, reports, data accuracy, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Critical thinking skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and experience with large databases and reporting tools
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Workday Adaptive Planning, Power Query, PowerBI and Qlikview an asset
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Adherence to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial and clinical information
Education and Experience
  • Recognized accounting designation or actively completing the final level (CPA, CMA, CA or equivalent) is required
  • Healthcare industry and specifically hospital experience – Strongly recommended
  • Knowledge of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) is an asset
  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Accounting
  • Minimum of 3-5 years professional relevant experience
