Night Manager
Inspiring and engaging. As Night Manager, you are responsible for the smooth overnight operations of Fairmont Vancouver Airport, ensuring the highest level of satisfaction, safety and security for our guests and colleagues.

What you will be doing:
  • Being familiar with all policies and procedures relating to the Front Desk, Security, Central Services, Guest Services and Night Audit, providing hands-on support as needed.
  • Assisting in all areas of overnight hotel operations to ensure things run smoothly (assisting In Room Dining, Bell Services, Front Office, Housekeeping and Engineering).
  • Fostering a culture where employees focus on their role of doing whatever it takes to exceed guest expectations while performing multiple functions.
  • Supervision of all night contracted cleaners, regular floor sweeps of the hotel, and break relief for night staff in all departments as needed.
  • Liaise and build relationships with Richmond RCMP, Fire Department, EMS and Vancouver Airport Security Personnel.
  • Generation and distribution reports: Revenue Management reports, daily hotel communication reports and debit/credit batch closing.
  • Ensuring that all Keys/Ving cards are accounted for and the proper action and documentation completed for lost cards.
  • Actively seeking feedback from employees and guests, following-up and taking action
  • Incident reporting (guests and co-workers) and follow-up, including liaising with Director of Talent & Culture, insurers and guests to ensure efficient resolution of potential claims
  • Ensuring procedures are followed when dealing with intoxicated person, thefts, evictions, cash escorts and lost and found articles.
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety standards are met and all colleagues have the correct tools to work safely.
  • Member of the Emergency Response Team, including Fire Safety, First Aid and general crisis management.
  • Other duties as assigned
Your experience and skills include:
  • Previous experience in the Front Office department is required; Supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Highly motivated and guest driven with the proven ability to solve problems and make timely and effective decisions, especially in a crisis situation.
  • Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management or a university degree, a strong asset.
  • Strong computer skills required, knowledge of Opera Property Manager system is an asset
  • Successful completion and maintaining of Occupational First Aid Level 2 or higher - hotel will provide training where necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, guests and external contacts, both verbally and written.
  • Proactive with a demonstrated eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple functions/projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Must have a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of hotel operations
  • Must be professional in demeanor and appearance
  • Must be able to work under pressure and handle conflicting priorities
  • As a condition of your employment, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and able to provide appropriate proof of vaccination prior to start date
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
