We are looking for a reliable and skilled Breakfast Cook/Baker to join our culinary team just a few minutes outside of Fort St James. This role involves preparing and cooking a variety of breakfast items and baked goods, including breads, muffins, pastries, and desserts. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, is able to work alone and alongside a team, and is committed to quality, consistency and great customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook breakfast for guests and staff according to set menus and standards.
Bake a range of goods including breads, muffins, tarts, cakes, and other desserts using commercial kitchen equipment.
Follow daily opening and closing checklists, and create a personal prep list to stay organized throughout your shift.
Use provided recipe cards and adhere to portion control guidelines, do not rely on memory or verbal instruction.
Monitor perishable goods and communicate with the General Manager regarding items nearing expiry.
Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and organization in the kitchen at all times.
Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryer, flat top, and mixer safely and effectively.
Use the Square terminal to process breakfast payments for public guests when required.
Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for improvement.
Report product shortages, quality concerns, or equipment issues promptly to the General Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall kitchen operations.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a camp, restaurant, commercial kitchen is required.
Solid understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and baking fundamentals.
Ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Physically capable of lifting up to 30 lbs and working on your feet for extended periods.
Valid Canadian driver's license and current Food Safe certification required.
Must be fluent in English and comfortable using checklists and written procedures.

Staff housing will be provided for candidates who are not local to Fort St. James.
