Dynamic Earth Solutions (DES) specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

Hatch is seeking a Junior Civil Designer/Drafter with good interpersonal skills, is a self-motivated and has a genuine interest in engineering design. You will work closely with experienced professionals who will provide guidance and mentoring. In this position, you will be located in our Calgary office.

Responsibilities:

• Works on projects of increasing difficulty;
• Assist with design of track and railway infrastructure in accordance with the quality objectives and regulations, laws, and standards; (ex. GO Transit, CN, CP and AREMA);
• Assists in the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, studies, and designs for project;
• Conducts site visits for the purposes of observing and documenting observations;
• Gathers and maintains specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.;
• Attends meetings with Clients and Contractors, together with senior member of team;
• Receives and reviews various Shop Drawings for projects.

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from accredited College;
• Co-op or Summer Student experience an asset;
• Interest in infrastructure and Civil Engineering Design;
• Interest and desire to be exposed to site;
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required;
• Experience in development of project layout and civil details;
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are essential.
