ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently looking to hire an enthusiastic, self-starter New Graduate to support our Stakeholder Relations / External Affairs, Business Development, and Commercial at TransAlta.
New Grads are emersed into three (2) job rotations within their field to experience a variety of roles within TransAlta and gain exposure to various lines of business. During each 8-month rotation, responsibilities will vary, and you will collaborate with your supervisor to develop performance objectives. Prior to your completion of the New Grad Program, we will consider full-time employment opportunities within TransAlta.
This role is based at our Head Office in Downtown Calgary, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. We are hoping to hire a New Grad that is available to start this year, but we are open to January 2023.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Here are some of the tasks you will do as a New Grad to support our External Affairs, Business Development, and Commercial teams:
Completing research and analysis of regulatory incentive programs
Assist the team with stakeholder relations mapping and planning
Conducting Indigenous Relations Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) review
Support the review and analysis of TransAlta's local community relationships
Assist teams with preparing presentation packages and reports for senior management
Performing ad hoc analysis, including the creation of financial models and analysis of business trends to support the growth of the business
Assist growth team with market research to identify areas of interest for development activities in North America
Assist teams with preparing marketing materials, submissions summarizing project development status to assist in securing contracts, and working with local communities
Assist teams by providing analytical support on all business development activities
Assisting project teams by managing databases, file folders, SharePoint sites and website content
Assist teams by managing the collection, organization and filing of all project documentation, both internally and for external third-party stakeholders
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following must-have qualifications and experience:
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in Social Science, Commerce, Business, Economics, or an equivalent program between 2020 and 2022
Excellent academic performance as evidenced by your GPA
Prior experience working with local communities, political campaigns, or other volunteer activities
Working towards, or have an interest in pursuing a professional designation
Research, analysis, and strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge of economics and market systems
Well-developed skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Demonstrates a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and take initiative
Possesses a results-oriented approach to work and ability to solve problems while displaying keen attention to detail
Critical thinking and the ability to identify creative solutions to emerging issues in a timely manner
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple work tasks
Enjoys working on multiple assignments and thrives under pressure
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to process information quickly and communicate in a clear and concise manner
Able to work equally well either within a team or independently with minimal supervision
An interest in learning TransAlta's business
