Job Description

Overview



The

NOC L1 Engineer

is responsible for

monitoring and maintaining

network systems to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation. This role provides

first-line technical support

, identifies network incidents, performs basic troubleshooting, and escalates issues to Level 2 or field teams when required.

Key Responsibilities



24/7

monitoring of network infrastructure

(routers, switches, microwave, fiber links, base stations, servers, etc.) using tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or HP NNMi.

Acknowledge and log network alerts

and create incident tickets in systems like ServiceNow or Remedy. Perform

initial troubleshooting

-- ping, traceroute, interface check, port status, and connectivity testing.

Escalate unresolved or critical incidents

to NOC L2 or Field Engineers as per escalation matrix. Monitor and track

link performance, latency, and bandwidth utilization

.

Coordinate with vendors, field teams, and clients

to ensure timely fault resolution. Update and maintain

incident logs, shift reports, and network documentation

. Follow

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

for issue handling and escalation. Ensure compliance with

Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

and report any potential breaches. Participate in

shift handovers

, sharing network status and ongoing issues with the next shift.

Required Skills



Strong understanding of

TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and basic routing/switching concepts

. Familiarity with

network devices

(Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, etc.) and

monitoring tools

. Basic knowledge of

LAN/WAN technologies, fiber, and wireless networks

. Good communication and coordination skills. Ability to

work in 24x7 shift rotation

(including nights/weekends).

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in

Telecommunications, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

.

Certifications (Preferred):

CCNA / CompTIA Network+ / JNCIA or equivalent entry-level certification.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,627.08-$88,647.17 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

Toronto, ON (Toronto District): reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
