Rate of Pay: Band 6: $38.31 - $41.84 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)

Duties:

Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, the Network Analyst is responsible for the design and support of the network infrastructure for the City. This includes tasks such as providing daily support and optimization of corporate LAN/WAN network infrastructure, and design and implementation of new or changing network infrastructure to meet the needs of the City.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties

  • Install, configure, and administer all network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewall devices and wireless access points.
  • Monitor and analyze network performance, and resolve user reported and infrastructure alerted performance issues across the corporate LAN/WAN.
  • Liase with vendors to research and resolve more complex network and performance related issues in the corporate network.
  • Accurately track and log issues from start to resolution through an IT ticket management system.
  • Implement, administer, and support phone systems including Cisco VOIP systems.
  • Research, recommend, and implement network security standards following best practices to ensure the security of the corporate network.
  • Design and implement network solutions and infrastructure to meet the business requirements of the City.
  • Apply firmware updates to network infrastructure to ensure they are kept on current maintenance levels.
  • Assist in administering, maintaining, and supporting the server and storage infrastructure of the City, including the vMware environment, stand alone servers, SAN and NAS devices.
  • Assist in administering the Enterprise backup software to ensure corporate data is backed up and recoverable.
  • Assist in administering Office 365 applications, including Exchange Online, Onedrive, Teams, and Sharepoint Online.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of network infrastructure deployed throughout the City.
  • Create and maintain documentation for areas of responsibility.

Schedule:
Normal working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however there may be the occasional requirement to work outside of these standard hours.
Qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary degree or 2-year diploma in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or other related discipline from a recognized institution is required.
  • 4-6 years related experience in a network administration and support role.
  • Hands on experience in designing, implementing, and administering Cisco network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewall devices, and VOIP phone systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and committed to a high degree of accuracy.
  • Self-directed and proactive; think beyond the immediate problem with the ability to analyze situations/problems systematically and deliver effective right-sized solutions in a timely manner.
  • Possess an inherent passion for continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Demonstrated ability and skills to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects with varying schedules.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan with an acceptable Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract is required. This position may be required to operate a personal or municipal vehicle for business purposes.
