The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is responsible for establishing and managing public infrastructure, including: provincial highways and roads, highway bridges and structures, water and flood control works, and northern airports and marine services. The Northern Airports and Marine Operations branch operates and maintains provincially owned airports and ferries to provide vital transportation of passengers, freight and medical services to remote communities.


Conditions of Employment:


Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba class 5F driver's licence. Must be able to travel to remote work sites within the province by ground, water or air transportation. Must be able to work in a rough terrain environment as described in OSHRM.

Qualifications:


Essential:




Completion of post-secondary education degree or diploma in a related field such as construction project management, project coordination, engineering, architecture and/or business administration. A suitable combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Extensive supervisory experience on building construction projects. Extensive experience estimating and developing construction project estimates. Relevant experience working with northern, remote work sites and Indigenous communities. Experience working with standard office equipment, personal computers and Microsoft office software package. Experience in preparing budgets and cash flow documents. Advanced knowledge of all codes, standards, architectural and structural principles pertinent to design, building construction and maintenance. Excellent written communication skills with the ability to maintain records, prepare applicable correspondence and associated technical reports. Strong interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts with internal and external stakeholders.

Duties:


The Maintenance Coordinator is the most senior resource responsible to provide leadership, planning, coordinating, integrating, staffing, controlling activities and resources with respect to the inspection, maintenance, repairing/upgrading of all building facilities and grounds at 22 remote northern airports and 4 marine locations; The Maintenance Coordinator oversees staff, Engineering Service Providers, and contractors required to ensure consistency in policy, standards, procedures and appropriate regulations to make certain that NAMO's preservation and maintenance objectives are met.
