Job Description

Music Instructors are the heart of Rock U. This position demands not only excellent teaching skills but also an appreciation for the significance of positive relationships within the Rock U program. Responsible for nurturing the musical abilities of individuals, Music Instructors strive to bring out the best in each student.

Our Music Instructors also work as Band Managers responsible for creating an enjoyable atmosphere where students come together to form bands and perform live. Band Managers are tasked with crafting setlists tailored to student preferences and capabilities. This role demands a considerable degree of flexibility and creativity to assemble bands and ensure that all participants feel included and appropriately challenged. While musical proficiency is essential for this position, it is equally crucial for Band Managers to excel in interpersonal skills and group management.

ROLES, DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares and executes engaging weekly lessons. Assesses students' learning gaps and develops lessons that address gaps and improve skills. Works with other Band Managers and Instructors to create appropriate setlists. Leads a group of students in achieving their musical goals. Arranges musical parts when necessary. Integrates all group participants into songs as equally as possible.
QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to teach one or more of Rock U's core instruments. Currently working/ gigging as a rock musician is considered an asset. A degree or diploma in Music is considered an asset. Previous teaching experience is considered an asset. Must be able to clear a police information check and vulnerable sectors check.
POSITION DETAILS

Hiring part time guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocal instructors. The ideal candidate can teach multiple instruments This is an in-person evening position. Salary Range: $20 - $32/ hour depending on experience.
