Key Responsibilities
Direct public programs, daily tours, educational programs, and special events
Welcome and assist visitors, providing engaging information about exhibits and Kings County history
Direct research into collections and respond to public research requests
Oversee the interpretation, maintenance, and conservation of collections
Supervise and train site staff and volunteers
Work with the Board to renew and implement the Strategic Plan
Expand current programs and identify new opportunities to generate revenue and support the Society's mission
Oversee the development and management of the annual budget and operations plan
Lead communications efforts, including publications, website, social media, and public relations
Manage seasonal staff (3-4 people) and numerous volunteers
Oversee earned income activities (admission fees, museum shop, special events)
Support fundraising activities to achieve operating, project, and capital goals (government, foundations, corporations, individuals)
Work collaboratively with the Treasurer to maintain accurate books and ledgers of the Society
Perform administrative duties such as correspondence, scheduling, and record-keeping (some remote work)
Research and identify suitable grant opportunities and prepare grant applications to support the museums operations, programs and special projects.
Qualifications
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Reliable, professional, and proactive
Comfortable engaging with the public and managing volunteers
Basic computer skills (email, scheduling, social media)
Asset:
Knowledge of Kings County history or interest in local heritage
Written and spoken competence in English required; spoken French an asset
