About the role

The role is within a global team operating in DevOps model with 5 staff in Toronto, 1 in London, 2 in Hongkong and 8 in China. The global Foreign Exchange Options (FXO) team numbers 90 people split in functional pods mostly based in Asia Pacific region, with support outside of core pod hours managed through a triage layer of resources from other pods in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and America regions. It\'s therefore expected that Murex resources in London and Toronto are sometimes required to provide initial incident cover for a range of application in FX Options technology platform.

There are a number of functional pods in Foreign Exchange (FX) Option including: Murex, Trade Services, Pricing and Hedging, eRisk and Distribution as well as Trade Reporting. We are also working closely with Global Foreign Exchange (FX) Compute team.

Foreign Exchange (FX) Options Murex (version 3.1) Primary Trading System is used for Risk Management, Trade Lifecycle management and Reporting for Foreign Exchange (FX) Options Business.

Foreign Exchange Options (FXO) Murex is a global instance supporting 3 main hubs - London, Hongkong and New York and up to 30 other entities with a daily average volume of 10k trades. The platform supports a wide range of vanillas, exotics and HSBC flex products.

Responsibilities

  • Providing functional support for Front Office, Middle Office and Traded Risk users including assistance with PnL and Risks investigation
  • Analysis of trade lifecycle issue including reporting, working with the Back Office to analyse Front to Back issues.
  • Communicate with the Business, Murex, IT development and support teams to capture requirements, develop and release necessary changes
  • Working with the Quants team to identify issues in HSBC Flex valuations
  • Providing functional advice and support to other members of the global team
  • Delivering bug fixes to production using continuous delivery methodologies
  • Contribute to the knowledge base to enhance effectiveness of pod and triage layer
  • Contribute to Monitoring and alerting
Control
  • Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
  • Maintain HSBC Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with your role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Requirements

Experience:
  • Software Engineering experience with excellent technical aptitude and ability to code.
  • Primary Trading Systems Experience: Risk management screens, Troubleshooting PnL and Risk queries, trade workflows.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Detailed Knowledge of FX Derivatives
  • Software Engineering
  • Relational Databases, SQL proficiency
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure without sacrificing accuracy and quality
  • Team working
Ideal experience:
  • Investment Banking IT background desirable, as is experience of working in a front office environment
  • Strong Murex application knowledge: Simulations, Livebook, PnL, Risk, Datamart, General Settings, Market Data Import, MxML Exchange
  • Previous experience support FX Options business
  • Java & Python coding
  • Previous experience working in DevOps and High Performance teams
  • Experience working as part of geographically diverse team
