What you will do:
Reporting to the Manager of Parks and Recreation or their designate, as part of the Community Services Department, the successful candidate will perform duties in accordance with departmental and corporate work plans and priorities, including but not limited to the following:
Perform cleaning and maintenance of municipal offices, meeting rooms, public areas, washrooms, entrances, and common spaces.
Set up and take down rooms for community events, rentals, and municipal functions.
Maintain cleaning and maintenance records, and manage supplies and equipment.
Follow cleaning and sanitation protocols in accordance with Public Health Ontario, Grey Bruce Health Unit, and ORFA guidelines.
Conduct inspections, report maintenance needs, and address safety hazards.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and the public, attending meetings, assisting during shortages or emergencies, and communicating ideas or improvements.
Comply with health and safety policies and the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), including using PPE, following safe procedures, and reporting unsafe conditions.
What the ideal candidate will possess:
OSSD (Grade 12) or equivalent
A minimum of one (1) year of custodial experience, preferably in a public facility.
Valid G Driver's License.
Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment and initiative when dealing with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
Ability to provide timely and courteous customer service.
Knowledge of safe work practices, WHMIS, and proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
Good judgment and initiative, and the ability to follow directions.
Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
Basic computer literacy and Microsoft Office skills
Responsible, as an employee, for health & safety under the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA). This includes, but is not limited to:
Working safely within the law and safe work practices/procedures (understanding and following standard operating procedures, wearing personal protective equipment, using MSDS information, ensuring all guards are in place)
Immediately reporting unsafe acts, conditions, or contraventions of the OHSA to a supervisor, the JHSC, or a Health & Safety representative.
Maintaining a clean, orderly work area.
What we will require:
A Police Criminal Record Check satisfactory to the Municipality
Proof of your current and valid certificate(s), licenses and/or educational qualifications, if applicable
Three valid references for a background check
