Multi Discipline Project Manager Biologist

Job Description

:

The Client is seeking a Multi-Discipline Project Manager Biologist in Alberta. The position involves supervising and delivering quality control and reporting as well as consultation services for all wildlife related project field work. Duties include: Project Management, Business Acumen, report writing, client relations, technical writing (e.g., wetland, marine, and aquatic biology), erosion and sediment control development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe, timely and on-budget delivery of projects;
  • Managing project team to ensure cost effective, efficient, safe and timely completion of asset replacement or new capital/system improvement projects in order to meet or exceed client expectations;
  • Engaging with clients and managing their expectations;
  • Developing and executing project plans, designs, and studies that meet project needs and comply with all applicable regulations;
  • Business Acumen;
  • Creating proposals and estimates;
  • Supervising the development of budgets, schedules and reports;
  • Creating and maintaining communication channels with clients, stake holders, and internal personnel to ensure that work flows smoothly as well as providing efficient project delivery services;
  • Providing status reports on overall project progress and performance;
  • Managing scope changes proactively and resolving complex issues both with clients and internal teams;
  • Mentoring and training junior project managers and OVAC Staff;
  • Managing teams of 2-8 professionals;
  • Must be flexible and willing to manage staff and projects over three times zones (Atlantic Canada, BC and Alberta).
Requirements
  • B.Sc. or a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate preferably in relevant industry is an asset,
  • Degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences is a preference;
  • Excellent writing and review skill;
  • 10 plus years of experience in consulting environment, including at least 5 years of increasing responsibility as project manager;
  • Excellent English oral, written and presentation skills for communication with internal team, stakeholders and clients;
  • Good planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to travel to field locations as required and maintain Class 5 driver's license in a good standing;
  • Experience in Regulatory Approvals, Managing multidisciplinary teams to support environmental assessments and field studies
