We are seeking a full-time Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing team. VWR Capital Corp. As a Mortgage Underwriter, collaborating effectively with other stakeholders involved in the loan process is essential for accurately assessing risk and ensuring the quality of loan applications. You will play a pivotal role in assessing mortgage loan applications, with a specific focus on collaborating effectively with co-workers, mortgage brokers, Business Development Managers (BDMs), Lawyers and other stakeholders to facilitate a streamlined mortgage application process. We are all about fostering collaborative relationships built on clear communication, thorough documentation, and mutual respect, our mortgage underwriters work together with our stakeholders to effectively assess risk and facilitate the approval of quality loan applications. On a daily basis you will review mortgage applications, analyze the subject property or properties available for security along with supporting documentation, evaluate risk, and ensure compliance with established guidelines. You will decline applications, recommend applications for approval and in some cases, you approve the applications. You will ensure approved applications close as scheduled and as efficiently as possible by following up on outstanding conditions. RESPONSIBILITIES: \xc2\xb7 Work closely with your co-workers and our clients to build strong relationships both internally and externally. \xc2\xb7 As a team player you will share your underwriting expertise to support your co-workers, Business Development Managers and mortgage brokers by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of company policies, procedures and product offerings. \xc2\xb7 Establishing clear channels of communication is crucial. Underwriters provide guidance on how to strengthen loan applications, address deficiencies, or mitigate risk factors. This collaborative approach ensures that loan submissions meet underwriting criteria and maximizes the chances of approval. \xc2\xb7 Provide ongoing communication with brokers and staff maintaining the highest level of internal and external customer service while addressing inquiries, providing status updates, and offer clarification on underwriting decisions. \xc2\xb7 Analyze mortgage application ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate. Evaluate the marketability of property as well as the creditworthiness of applicants and assess risk factors associated with each application. \xc2\xb7 Evaluate the risk associated with each loan application and make informed decisions by understanding the unique aspects of each application and assessing risk accordingly by providing feedback to brokers on potential issues or areas for improvement. \xc2\xb7 You play a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of the lending process. You will work closely with brokers to ensure that loan applications align with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Provide guidance on any necessary adjustments to meet compliance standards. \xc2\xb7 Ensure accurate and complete record-keeping, including communication with brokersregarding missing or incomplete information. \xc2\xb7 Make sound decisions on mortgage loan applications in collaboration with brokers, providing clear explanations for approval or denial decisions. Discuss and explore alternative financing options with brokers when necessary.
