Job Overview


We are hiring a

highly efficient, fast-moving Mortgage Assistant

to support a high-volume mortgage business. You MUST be organized, proactive, and able to keep up with a fast workflow.

Responsibilities include:



Reviewing and analyzing mortgage loan applications, including credit reports, income documents, asset statements, and property appraisals. Evaluating borrower eligibility by verifying employment, income, assets, and debt obligations through detailed documentation review. Collaborating with team members to clarify application details, ensure accuracy, and communicate updates or decisions. Responding promptly to lender questions, document requests, and conditions. Preparing files for underwriting and assisting with submission packages. Conducting client follow-ups at every stage of the mortgage process. Collecting, organizing, and tracking all required client documents. Managing and updating the CRM, calendar, and client database. Overseeing renewal pipeline management, including booking reassessment calls and tracking important dates. Completing post-closing tasks such as sending thank-you messages and requesting reviews. Performing compliance checks and ensuring all files meet regulatory and brokerage standards. Maintaining database accuracy through regular cleanup and organization. Creating and sending monthly newsletters to clients and referral partners. Coordinating with team members to support smooth workflow and effective communication. Answering incoming phone calls through call forwarding when the agent is unavailable. Staying informed on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and market conditions that impact underwriting standards. Using strong communication skills when requesting additional information from clients.

Experience



Proven experience in mortgage underwriting/assistant or a similar role within the financial services industry. Strong knowledge of risk analysis techniques, credit evaluation processes, and lending regulations. Familiarity with mortgage software Velocity Skills in communication, EQ people skills, math, accounting principles, and attention to detail are highly desirable. A background in finance, accounting, or related fields is preferred to support accurate assessment of borrower financial health. Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $55,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
